EcoFashion Pioneer, Serial Entrepreneur, and Author
As a leading sustainable business expert, Marci is doing her part to help bring textile manufacturing back to the USA in a sustainable way. Her company MetaWear’s 40,000 square foot facility, near Washington DC, was America’s first turnkey sustainable factory and is the nation’s leading sustainable fashion manufacturer. MetaWear offers turnkey solutions for stylish “made in the USA,” GOTS certified, Cradle to Cradle certified, screen-printed, and dyed cotton T-shirts, contract knit apparel, and other custom goods.
Some of her past achievements include launching first time organic and sustainable fashion initiatives at top retailers — such as Whole Foods Market, Macy’s, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and AVEDA. Having dedicated her life and work to sustainable fashion, Marci is intimately knowledgeable about the cotton industry at large, both to its challenges and opportunities to be sustainable in all areas of production, use, to recycling. Both professionally and personally, Marci is an advocate for the use of cotton over synthetic materials, when considering the health of people, planet, and in particular our oceans. Marci is the recipient of many awards and honors, including Retail Touchpoint’s “Retail Innovator Award”, the Natural Product Industry’s “Socially Responsible Business Award”, New York Moves “Power Woman Award”, Fashion Group International's "Rising Star Award”, ABC News’ “Legends and Legacies”, ELLE Magazine’s “Mercury Style Award”, and the prestigious Henry Crown Fellowship of the Aspen Institute and Royal Society of the Arts (RSA) Fellowship.
